Purpose

During the design of the brand new Stanton Hospital, it was imperative that the public address system was a major focus. It needed to be reliable, durable and provide intelligible sound and be easy to use by staff. Speakers and horns need to distributed sound and voice effectively to provide optimum coverage for all areas of the hospital. When an announcement was made it needed to heard by everyone.

Challenge

There were no major challenges as the PA system was included in the engineering plans. Designers needed to seek out the right equipment for the system.

Solution

When it came to choosing the speakers for the system the team decided to choose a reliable manufacturer who was known for their quality products. The TOA speakers selected offered a variety of features and sound dispersion benefits that allowed them to be placed in areas of the hospital that were best suited for their function and sound intelligibility.  

Feedback

When the hospital opened in 2019, it became an integral part of Yellowknife’s Infrastructure. Hospital management along with the engineering firm were very satisfied with the quality of sound throughout the building and believed the had chosen the correct equipment from TOA Canada.
