Purpose
Being the first of its kind within the city, this new project required an audio befitting this new sports field. The proposed system would need to be able to handle public address and sound reinforcement, and allow commentators to interact with the crowd during games and events.
Challenge
This project posed two minor challenges, first being the limitations posed by it being an outdoor and uncovered field. Canadian winters can wreak havoc on ill-equipped audio systems, which would then limit the options that facilitators’ had to systems that are able to brave the elements season after season. The second challenge is caused in part by the first, the limitations in applicable products meant that which solution was chosen, the system would need to provide ample coverage to the field without being overbearing to viewers in the bleachers.
Solution
To the benefit of the city of Sorel-Tracy, TOA had the perfect solution for this sports field’s needs. The HX-7WP line array speakers are some of TOA’s most powerful, as well as being able to handle whatever Canadian winters may attempt to throw at them. These speakers were strategically placed throughout the field, powered via our DA amps and accessible though the M-8080D’s suite of control panels and accessories as well as the MW-41BT.
Feedback
The team overseeing the project were pleased with their new TOA sound system, and members of the city as well as surrounding communities are able to experience the sound for themselves during local soccer and football seasons.
