Purpose

The city council decided that it was time to revamp the arena’s audio system. It was old and considering the amount of people that use the facility, it would be a good investment to provide clearer sound quality for background music and announcement.

Challenge

All arena’s tend to have many challenges and the Rec-Tangle was no different. With typical arena design there was reverberant space and a long throw across the ice for the sound. How can an audio system be designed to overcome these issues.

Solution

TOA’s design team used their experience in dealing with arena sound systems and used the proper equipment to minimize the city’s concerns. By using the HX-7 line array speakers and adjusting their directivity the integrator’s were able to create an environment where the sound covered all areas of the arena. the M-900 Mixer along with the amps installed provided easy modifications to get the sound just right. The F-2000 wide speakers assisted in the enhancement and clarity of the audio in the arena and under the stands.

Feedback

The the project was completed and the resulting audio system was tested the city along with staff were very happy and were comfortable that the investment was well worth it.
