Nestled in the core of the Tecumseh community outside Windsor Ontario, Lacasse park is filled with memories and a shared history within the community. The park is considered one of the best baseball parks in the county, containing soccer fields, a pool, a walking track, playground and two pavilions. Lacasse park serves as a notable communal gathering place for the surrounding community, and the home to St. Clair College Saints.

Purpose

Part of a greater renovation to the baseball-related portion of this park, this project involved utilizing a new sound system to energize crowds during the games, whilst also being able to deliver complete coverage as far out as the field without impeding viewers’ experience.

Challenge

As mentioned, the primary challenge of this install was to design a system that was capable in sending clear sound and communications as far out as the outfield. Though there was a balance that had to be stuck, as coverage had to also be suitable to cover the grandstand, and take into consideration how this projected sound would affect the surrounding neighbourhood. Additionally, since this park is exposed to the elements year-round, the new sound system would need to be capable of handling the worst that Canadian winters could bring.

Solution

In order to ensure high-quality sound with optimal throw and coverage, CS-761B horn speakers were chosen for their ability to throw sound to the distances required. To cover the grandstand, our F-box speakers were chosen to provide clear sound for music and in-game commentary delivered through several various TOA microphone systems. Both options also boast more-than-capable environmental resistances and weather-proofing, meaning that these systems will easily be able to operate season after season.

Feedback

Reviews were overwhelmingly positive, as the community’s most recent baseball season —and larger renovation grand opening— allowed for community members to all experience the new system for themselves! Anyone near to Tecumseh or the greater Windsor area can also plan to see the St. Clair Saints play, so that they too can experience how this new system energizes crowds on game day and delivers impactful sound!
