University of Guelph, Gryphon Centre, Guelph, ON
The Gryphon Centre Arena is an indoor two-sheet ice arena located on the campus of the University of Guelph. The Gold Rink has a seating capacity of 1,400 and is an Olympic-sized ice rink, home of the Gryphon Hockey Team.
Purpose
The University of Guelph was looking for a new public address and paging system that would be installed in the Gryphon arena.
Challenge
The primary challenge to tackle for this project involved ensuring the minimal amount of reverberation possible throughout the arena.
Solution
The TOA technical team designed a system based on the arena layout using the EASE vac software. The sound system included a center ice cluster of HX-5 - Variable Angle Speakers and along the bleachers are TOA's F2000BTWP - Wide-Dispersion, Weather-resistant, Box Speakers. The system is driven by TOA's DA-250 Multi-channel Digital Power Amplifier and M-9000 - Mixer.
Feedback
The client was very happy with the resulting sound quality and pleased with the TOA service.
