Glenn Hall Centennial Arena, Stony Plain, AB

Sports Complexes

Built in 1967, the Glenn Hall Centennial Arena is open for hockey and public skating from September through March. The Arena is named after famed NHL hockey goaltender Glenn Hall.

Purpose

With an aging sound system, the Arena required an upgrade. They wanted speakers that provided clear and intelligible sound so the fans can easily hear the music and announcements.

Challenge

The project was pretty straight forward. Working with a local installer in Edmonton, our TOA tech team designed the installation proposal using the EASE software and recommended a speaker cluster approach.

Solution

The HX-7 line array speakers were clustered with the FB-150 subwoofer and hung from the ceiling in a precisely accurate position based on the EASE design. Together, the sound deriving from the cluster was an excellent upgrade in quality and clarity.

Feedback

The arena management team was very happy with the sound quality and how appealing the speakers from the ceiling looked. They would recommend TOA products for arena projects.
