Sports Complexes

The Eliyahu Wellness Centre/Canada Games Place is a cutting-edge sports centre devoted to supporting individual health, wellness, and pushing physical limits.

Purpose

This new facility is a was slated to be a venue for the Canada Games in 2023, housing an Olympic-sized ice surface, fitness centre, a 180-metre walking track, campus space for The Mount Academy, a community hospitality room with ice viewing, and a dedicated kitchen. The arena required a full new sound system for public announcements as well as music.

Challenge

Being that the new facility was essentially a blank slate in terms of audio infrastructure, and with TOA’s storied history in sports complexes across the country as well as internationally, this project posed little challenge for TOA’s audio experts. The primary obstacle involved adjustments to the design to ensure that the project would remain healthily within the budget.

Solution

TOA’s design team provided a full-facility solution, including our M-8080D powerhouse and MW-41BT to ensure ease of use for staff at the centre, which then worked in conjunction with several of our amplifier series’ to ensure ample coverage and crisp sound throughout. These announcements and music would be delivered by our wide-dispersion ceiling speakers and subwoofers, all boasting high-quality sound and easy installation.

Feedback

The team over at the Wellness centre were very impressed by the great sound delivered by this new system, as well as their level of control and ease of access to the system as a whole. They also noted the on the effectiveness of the multi-zone paging functionality afforded. Outside of the audio system itself, they were also grateful for the expedited timeline TOA and our integration team were able to provide from end-to-end, making for a quick turnaround given the deadlines for the center to be operational.

M-8080D Series

The M-8080D Digital Matrix Mixer system is dedicated to music, paging, discussion and zone management solutions for commercial audio applications. M-864D

A fader-type Digital Stereo Mixer permitting analog-feel parameter setting as well as PC or LAN operation.

The M-864D digital stereo mixer maintains the basic functionality and operability of its predecessor, the M-633D, but adds such versatile features as analog-feel fader operation, 8 monaural and 7 stereo input channels, remote controller operation and fine-tuning of settings with GUI software. With its release, TOA has made the clear sound achieved by its proprietary resonance control technology available for use in hotel banquet rooms, multipurpose halls and other facilities that host events of various types.
