Correctional Facilities

The centre is located in the North West section of Calgary. CYOC operates under the administration of the Correctional Services Division and holds approximately 155 youth ranging in age from 12 to 18. With the vast area and many rooms the communication system of the centre was a key focus during the building of the new building.

Purpose

The Calgary Young Offenders Centre required an intercom system for the facility for security and triggering events like opening doors or strobe lights and others. They also need a system that would page to various areas of the centre.

Challenges

The main challenge was proving to the engineers that TOA equipment had the capability to preform the functions needs and provide intelligible audio during paging and public announcements. TOA was chosen over competitors.

Solution

The installation included the placing of intelligible and cost eective PC-580RU in all areas of the building and powered by the DA-250 Amplier which was connected to the headend. For the paging function, the system has 18 master station and a couple of exchanges which seamlessly integrated with the PA system equipment.

Feedback

The equipment selected in combination with the design provided, oered a cost eective and successful unied solution that satised the Government of Alberta - Ministry of Justice and Solicitor General.
