The Airdrie Library & Multi-Use Facility is a newly constructed community hub designed to serve as both a modern library and a versatile event space. With a focus on accessibility, technology, and community engagement, the facility features multiple presentation areas, open atriums, and flexible-use rooms that required a robust and adaptable audio solution.

Purpose

Designed based on the desired specifications and capabilities of the new facility, this project served to ensure that the Airdrie Library had a capable audio system. The desired system needed to be able to support background music (BGM) throughout public areas, paging and announcements across multiple zones, and high-quality sound reinforcement for presentations and events.

Challenge

The facility presented several acoustic and architectural challenges. First of which being the Varied Ceiling Construction. The facility features over 10 distinct audio zones requiring customized mounting solutions for the PC-580 ceiling speakers. The most prominent of these spaces being the large atrium space. The open design demanded wide audio coverage without compromising aesthetics or introducing visual clutter.

Solution

To address these challenges, our SR-H2L Line Array Speakers were strategically mounted along atrium pillars, delivering clear BGM coverage while blending seamlessly into the architectural design. PC-580s were implemented for ceiling speakers across zones to accommodate different ceiling types and ensure consistent audio performance.

Feedback

The facility is scheduled to open in Fall 2025, with the audio system fully integrated and ready to support the diverse needs of the community. Early feedback from stakeholders has been positive, highlighting the clarity, coverage, and unobtrusive design of the installed system.
