Purpose

The administration team at the church had noticed the degrading in the sound quality during the masses and had heard from individuals that the sound was becoming difficult to understand. The church decided to upgrade the sound system to improve the clarity and intelligibility of voice and music sound.

Challenge

As with many House of Worship facilities there are challenges that come with ensuring the high quality sound. The church with its high ceilings and various contours made a distinctive reverberation with the old sound system. The length also caused the challenge of creating a sound field that was sent directly to all the pews, near and far from the sound source.

Solution

Working with the TOA design team and the integrator of the sound stem a plan was devised. The HX-5B Compact Line Array Speaker System were chosen as the main speaker system as they are ideal for reproducing clear sound in spaces with long reverberation times. The HX-5’s also permit both constant directivity control over a wide frequency range and changes in directivity. Powered by TOA DA series of amps to power the HX-’s and the proper set up, resulted in a quality sound system with intelligible sound. 

Feedback

After working with the system for a while the difference in quality and clarity was well established and both the church and the parishioners were very happy withe the performance of the TOA products.
