The Ottawa Paramedic Service - Central Ambulance Communications Centre is responsible for receiving and dispatching all calls that deal with medical or traumatic life threatening emergencies in Eastern Ontario. It is staffed by Communications Officers who must be fluently bilingual in English and French. This specialized centre controls ambulance resources in the urban and rural areas of Eastern Ontario.
The Ottawa Central Ambulance Communications Centre wished to design a command-and-control center to maximize AV technology and to provide situational awareness, redundancy, and on-the-job training.
When designing the command-and-control centre, there was a glaring issue that proved quite an obstacle early on. The facility was built in the 1990s and lacked the infrastructure to support new technologies.
Working with the integrator, a full facility solution was designed that focused on visual communications and sound clarity. For the speaker aspect of the project, TOA's F-2352C ceiling speakers along with F-1300 box speakers all ran through TOA's M-9000 Matrix mixer amplifier.
Management was satisfied with the installation job and the resulting communication abilities of the ambulance centre. The different product brands were all integrated perfectly and worked great.
