Purpose

For this new build, organizers behind the aquatics & sports center wanted to implement a system that would be able to project clear and high-quality sound/music across the large portion of the building devoted to the swimming pools. Additionally, they also aimed to install a paging system that would run throughout the remainder of the building, delivering intelligible announcements and communications to staff and attendees alike.

Challenge

Given the nature of the building’s purpose and use, one of the most prominent challenges for the equipment is prolonged water and chlorine exposure. As such, any equipment being installed in these spaces would need to be able to handle a lifetime of exposure to these elements without expedited degradation. Another challenge of the space itself would be size, reverberation was a serious concern as a poorly designed layout would negatively affect sound quality and the experience of all visitors.

Solution

In order to tackle both the spatial requirements, as well as handle elements in an environment that can be disastrous for electronics, the waterproof rated version of the HX-5 compact line array speakers served as the perfect option for such a space. They can be seen mounted above all swimming areas, providing optimal coverage whilst mitigating undesirable reverberation. For paging and internal communications, our F and PC series of ceiling mounted speakers serve as the go-to options for many clients, providing clear and understandable communications across the facility. All of which being routed through 9000 and DA series amplifiers, and culminating into a M-864 digital stereo mixer for ease of access and configuration.

Feedback

The installation went as planned, with all products being installed without complications. Attendees are welcome to experience the quality themselves through any of the activities held within the facility.
