Ranking among the top 10 ports in Canada, Hamilton serves as a pivotal point within the immediate and surrounding communities, averaging volumes in excess of 12 million metric tons per year.

Purpose

Hamilton Port Authority (HPA) wanted to implement a security system at all 12 of their piers. They needed to control access to the Hamilton Port Piers to provide safety and security to all of their visitors.

Challenge

With an existing system already in place, the primary challenge of this installation involved ensuring that TOA's IP intercom system meshed seamlessly with other brands' equipment. 

Solution

TOA’s IP Intercom (N‐8000 Series) was installed to permit communication between visitors to the pier and security center. At each pier there are manned gates for vehicular and pedestrian traffic. Each gate has an IP door substation (N‐85400DS) allowing the visitor to communicate with the main security office at the Hamilton Port Authority. 

Feedback

The Hamilton Port Authority was a very successful installation and, feedback regarding the newly installed products was that this addition to the system was very satisfactory.
