With over 500,000 square feet, two floors, and 142 stores, it is the largest shopping mall in Newfoundland and Labrador. The mall opened in 1967.
The Avalon Mall needed to upgrade their audio system throughout the mall to improve the sound intelligibility for the customers. They were determined to ensure that their announcements were easily understood in case of emergencies.
The necessary improvements made the project very big; however, Avalon management was still working within a budget. When designing the project and recommending the equipment, TOA needed to keep in mind the budgetary constrains they were under and still compete with other manufacturers.
