The Township of McKellar, located 25 kilometers east of the Town of Parry Sound on Highway #124 is a rural recreational municipality. The Township was moving their council chamber to a larger town hall room and required a conference system that could be set up without wires and had a strong enough signal to cover a larger distance. Along with this change, the town hall would also be used for other activities that would occur in the refurbished community hall.
The transition to the new room and set up of the TS conference system was straight forward. As for the multi-use room, TOA and the installer needed to ensure that the speakers and quality of sound exceed expectation and that the system would be easily controlled, especially volume, to adjust to the different events and their requirements.
The TS-820 Conference System was chosen for the Infrared transmission and portability of the units. The Multipurpose was outfitted with an A-9060SM2 matrix mixer as the headend of the audio system for control in multiple areas. To power the speakers TOA recommended the reliable DA-500F-HL that easily ran the numerous line of SR line array speakers that dotted the walls and angled to direct the sound. For events that required microphones the project included the S2.4 digital wireless kit and then a wired DM-1300 microphone.
The project itself required quite a bit of work running wires, installing speakers on the wall, and setting up the rack to run it. Once complete the township was very happy. They later reported that the sound system was performing great and many events were occurring without a hitch. Another satisfied township.
