Located in beautiful 100 Mile House, B.C, South Cariboo Recreation Centre is a place where our community grows, From our NHL-sized ice rink with 600 seated bleacher area to our 2 meeting rooms.

Purpose

The engineers behind the arena required a reliable and high performance audio equipment for the new complex. This system would need to play extraordinary sound for live events and during games, but also work as a paging system, delivering clear announcements to spectators and staff.

Challenge

As with any new modern facility, the designs are increasingly diverse with multiple rooms/zones, angled walls, and large spaces. The South Cariboo Recreation Centre was no different from other Sports Complexes we've had the opportunity to work on. The high ceilings and multiple spaces created a challenge for the sound system and its ability to provide effective but efficient coverage of the building.

Solution

In the arena they used the HX-5 and subwoofer for power sound during games and events, powered by DA amplifiers other rooms utilized the F-series wide dispersion speakers for coverage and the A-800D series amplifiers for power. The systems were controlled independently with the audio interface MW-41BT, and the complex also purchased a couple of microphones for when required.

Feedback

When complete the paging and sound system worked flawless. With work of TOA’s team and the integrator the staff at the south Cariboo recreation Centre were very pleased with the results.

Full area coverage and wider bandwidth sound.

The HX-5 is an innovative modular speaker design that incorporates the best characteristics of the traditional, cumbersome woofer enclosure combined with a CD horn-loaded high frequency driver and the full-range compact speaker enclosure without the drawbacks associated with each type. the HX-5 features remarkably easy to control coverage characteristics including problematic low frequencies and can be installed in a multitude of ways while maintaining a modern, unobtrusive appearance. a system is configured by four preassembled modules with four IF drivers and twelve HF dome tweeters. This configuration allows the variable directivity control and low-frequency dispersion control comparable to use a large constant directivity horn speaker. a choice of 4 directivity angles (15, 30, 45 and 60 degrees) can be employed as needed.

M-864D

A fader-type Digital Stereo Mixer permitting analog-feel parameter setting as well as PC or LAN operation.

The M-864D digital stereo mixer maintains the basic functionality and operability of its predecessor, the M-633D, but adds such versatile features as analog-feel fader operation, 8 monaural and 7 stereo input channels, remote controller operation and fine-tuning of settings with GUI software. With its release, TOA has made the clear sound achieved by its proprietary resonance control technology available for use in hotel banquet rooms, multipurpose halls and other facilities that host events of various types.
