Reaffirming Customers in the Canadian Market Amidst Tariff Concerns

28.Feb.2025

Globally Developed, Locally Focused:

Amidst the recent concerns on tariffs between Canada and the United States, here at TOA we wanted to take a moment and ease concerns of price hikes as well as other issues that may stem from such tariffs. We take pride in our global manufacturing network, which is designed to ensure the highest quality and reliability that is synonymous with our name, (whilst also mitigating supply chain issues if there is a substantial workflow impediment at a given factory) across all product lines. With specialized factories dedicated to different product categories, we maintain an efficient production process that serves various regional markets without major disruptions. But what does the breakdown of product development look like?

A Global Manufacturing Approach:

TOA operates manufacturing facilities across different countries and continents, each strategically designated for specific product lines or sectors of the AV world. This approach has allowed us to optimize expertise, resources, and supply chain logistics, ensuring that our customers receive products that meet our strict standards. As shown in the chart above, products originating in the United States make up a minor percentage of overall product development. Meaning that even in the case of the implementation of tariffs between the USA and Canada, there would be minimal impact on TOA products offered to the Canadian market.

Product/Series Priority Breakdown:

Taiwan (31%)
Primarily focused on wireless system equipment, our factory in Taiwan manufactures series including: wireless (UHF and digital) microphones, voice evacuation systems, IR wireless, personal PA systems, and networked intercoms.
Indonesia (24%)
With two factories as well as an R&D center in Indonesia, many of the offerings that TOA is known for begin their life here. Developments include various types of speakers and accompanying attenuators, megaphones, and parts used to develop TOA equipment in other factories across the world. the second factory serves as the hub for many of TOA's amplifier offerings, both those offered to the Canadian market and other branches internationally. This factory also develops several of our wired microphone offerings.
Japan (24%)
Copious series and product lines are developed within the two TOA factories in Japan. While these developments are primarily for domestic products, several international offerings include networked audio systems equipment, line arrays other long-range speakers, and intercom equipment.
China (10%)
This hub also serves as another primary source for TOA's microphone offerings, as well as the peripheral equipment/accessories for several TOA series.
Vietnam (5%)
TOA Vietnam prioritizes the development of video and communication equipment, manufacturing our IP-A1 audio endpoints, and conference systems.
Canada (4%)
TOA Canada's local developments consist of products and accessories geared towards our market specifically. Developing products and mounting options so that Canadian customers have access to the utmost customization options possible for their sound systems.
United States (2%)
In a similar vein to TOA Canada's local developments, State-side developments are centered around affordances and systems that are developed for American customers. Given the overlap in the Western markets of North America, TOA Canada adopts locally developed products for use in Canadian markets when possible.

We've always placed a high standard on reliability and affordability, and we know that these key concerns are held just as highly for our customers. Rest assured that we are actively managing our supply chains to minimize any potential impact from tariffs, allowing us to continue providing industry-leading audio solutions to the Canadian market.
