Sports Complexes

The 7 Chiefs Sportsplex & Chief Jim Starlight Centre is a new multi-sport and event centre, boasting the highest standard sports facilities, equipment and technology. We offer a wide variety of programs for sports, fitness and community events and affordable options for memberships.

Purpose

The Tsuut’ina Nation required a new sports and events facility for their communitiy and surrounding areas. Included in the design would be a highly functional and intelligible audio system throughout the arena. The new system would need to work in various zones, delivering clear public announcements and capable of  selecting specific arena zones for music or public address. Management wanted a sound system that would result in clear sound, be durable and easy to use.

Challenge

The requirements of the arena was not unheard of from TOA’s perspective. Our experience provided a strong background in audio solutions in sports complexes. Working with our integrator our challenge was really to find the right equipment to allow for multi zone paging, Background Music, public announcements but make it easy for the arena staff. It was also integral that the sound in the arena itself must be clear and provide full coverage for the entire audience, no matter where they were sitting.

Solution

TOA was proposed as the equipment provider by the integrator and working with them and our design team the proposal we delivered won the job. Using HX-7 in the arena with the 150 subwoofers delivered the powerful yet clear sound necessary. in the hallways and open areas a spatter of PC-580RU and 304 pendants carried the announcements into all areas of the building. The system was powered and TOA’s DA amps and the sound was enhanced using our M-864D and DP-SP3 digital signal processor.

Feedback

Its not an everyday occurrence for a manufacturer to get chosen for the entire sound system of such a large facility. TOA was up for the challenge and carried all the equipment to create such a great-sounding system. The complex's team was ecstatic with the resulting quality and are happy to know that the equipment will last for many years to come. Thumbs up from everyone involved.
