Purpose
Simon Property Group (A global leader in retail real estate ownership, management and development) wanted to provide their customers with a shopping experience that provided them comfort, relaxation, and joy. They required a system that could deliver high-quality soft and soothing background music, to ease customer journeys throughout, and make customers feel comfortable for the entirety of their time spent at Toronto Premium Outlets.
Challenge
Being an Indoor/Outdoor environment, Toronto Premium Outlets required a hardy speaker system that would stand up to Canada's harsh, cold winters, hot, humid summers, and everything in between. They required unobtrusive speakers that blended into the architecture, providing clean lines. They also required the speaker to be weather-resistant. In short, the speakers needed to be hardy, look great, blend in, and sound outstanding, so the main challenge was sorting through all the applicable options and choosing which TOA speakers to go with.
Solution
TOA's H Series Interior Design Speakers blend in with the architecture while providing soothing, relaxing, and refreshing background music while customers wander the outdoor hallways from store to store. TOA's H-3WP is a weather-resistant (IPX4), wall-mountable, outdoor 2-way speaker that provides horizontally-wide dispersion. Select stores also had additional TOA products installed, including F-Series Ceiling Speakers.
Feedback
Although a challenging install with the indoor and outdoor areas, with the integrator working alongside the TOA sound design team, the resulting sound clarity was overwhelmingly successful. Management was ecstatic with the sound quality, especially given the environmental challenges caused by the unique retail space setup.
