“The trouble with retirement is that you never get a day off.”
This month TOA Canada said good bye to a veteran of the sound equipment industry, a legend
is the sales of high performance audio and security equipment and a long standing TOA employee Barry Taylor. After nearly 33 years with our organization Barry is retiring and beginning a new and less stressful stage of his life. No more long road trips, hotels stays,
and crappy morning breakfasts; instead Barry can kick his feet up and let life come to him.
From his humble beginnings in Saskatchewan on the family farm Barry showed interest in electronics technology in high school which led him to Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) in Edmonton where he achieved his Diploma of Electronics Technology.
After working for a few different companies; Barry joined TOA in February of 1985 as a commercial sales representative. Right from the start he become a key part of TOA and helped us grow over the next several decades. Barry wasn’t all about the bottom line it was more than just getting the equipment into the hands of customers, he wanted to provide the best sound and communication system possible. He went the extra mile to ensure that the TOA equipment being installed was the right equipment for whatever application he was working with the customer on.
Barry believed in TOA and the products and services we sold. He believed in their reliability, value and the after sales support TOA exceeded at. He cherished his colleagues he worked with over the decades; whose hard work allowed Barry to succeed at his. Barry
found his career very rewarding, he had wonderful work environment that made it fun to come to work every day and a phenomenal company where he was able to learn many aspects of his job but also the chance to teach others from his vast experience in the industry.
“Make work fun and you will enjoy doing it every day” commented Barry.” I loved working for TOA and helping customers with their sound needs, I had a fantastic run. I made some wonderful friendship over the time and want to thank everyone for making my time at TOA extraordinary. And to all the TOA employees over the decades who assisted me; a very big Thank you, I will miss you all.”
TOA Canada will be hard pressed to replace a fantastic employee such as Barry Taylor.
He brought a human touch to the sales position and made friends not just customers connections. Whatever your future holds for you Barry; TOA Canada wishes you all the best and whenever your near Mississauga drop by and say Hello.
