Purpose

As part of an entire overhaul of the facility's auditorium, the team wanted to utilize TOA products to create an excellent AV experience with quality clear sound.

Challenge

A primary challenge was designing an installation plan that best utilized the space without overstimulating members within the auditorium. Essentially dispersing and installing TOA products in such a manner that provided full coverage within the auditorium, without it sounding as if you are standing at mid-court of an arena. With only 130 seats and regular groups as small as a dozen it was key that the sound dispersion was ideal for large and small groups. The resulting setup would also need to blend well with the aesthetics of the auditorium.

Solution

The solution was to establish zones for the six Shure microphones that hang from the auditorium’s ceiling (these were repurposed from the previous iteration of the auditorium) and the 12 TOA PC in-ceiling speakers (a 12-inch TOA woofer is also installed, to add some dimension to the spoken word), all powered by a four-channel TOA DA500 amplifier.

Feedback

The resulting full system worked very well and specifically the sound quality throughout the auditorium.
